TATUNG TICT-1500W

This review is for the Tatung TICT-1500W. I bought this induction cooktop from Newegg on sale for $49. That was $20 off their normal price.I also have a Burton induction cooktop that I bought from Amazon for about $90. I have owned the Burton for about a year now.The Tatung looks and feels much cheaper than the Burton. The Burton has 10 power levels, the Tatung has six. When cooking rice, the Burton simmers it just right at power level number one, however on the Tatung power level 1 isn't enough and power level 2 is a little too much. With the Burton I can set the timer in minutes, the Tatung has six choices 10,20,30,60,120. I can also set the temperature on the Burton, but not on the Tatung. The Burton, has what feels like a nice solid control panel. The Tatung, has a control panel that feels rather cheap. There is a thin plastic or vinyl layer over the control panel that has wrinkles over some of the keys, I am afraid to remove it because I can't tell if it's for shipping protection or part of the panel.Even at $49 they Tatung does not seem to be a good buy compared to the Burton at almost twice the price. Would I buy the Tatung again? Probably not. But for $49 I will put it in my RV and use it when we go camping. The Tatung did come with a pan that looks rather nice and has a glass top, it also is rather cheaply made and is something I wouldn't buy if I saw it in a store.

efficient cooking!

chose it because I grew up with this brand's rice cooker. Like the pot came with it, light weight and stainless steel - although the rim of the pot or its cover can be better designed (steam would splash when it's fully covered, you need to insert a flatware to keep it a bit ajar). Noisy as all the other induction cooker, overall I am happy with it.
