Very good

After fixing the ice maker on our refridge for over $250.00, I am very well satisfied with this machine. However the instructions are not quite clear enough as to the maintenance of it. The ice had a funny taste after the second batch. When I called the company they said to wipe out with mild soap, and this is also what the booklet advised. It still was so bad I was going to send the machine back. My husband suggested to wipe all water out and then put some lemon juice which works very well. I also leave the lid open with the scoop so air gets in between each use.

Waste of money

Don't buy this machine, or at least not from this seller. I ordered it and when I received it, it died within the first half hour of use. It would not turn back on. I sent it back and requested an exchange. They sent me another one. This one, as soon as you filled the reservoir with water and turned the unit on, it would start leaking all the water through the bottom. Sent it back again. Received a third one - same problem with the leaking (I suspect they just sent me the same machine), and of top of that, it was dirty when it arrived, even the power cord was filthy .In the end I just gave up and trashed it. Huge waste of time and money.Bottom line: the machine does not seem to be very reliable. If you are looking for a hassle-free way to make ice at home, neither this machine nor this vendor are the ones to choose.

I previously had a similar unit, although it was branded Magic Chef. You will see that almost all of these countertop units have the same form factor, and are basically the same (some have LCD readouts but not this one). My old one lasted for six or seven years of continuous use before it just went dead, it wouldn't start. For $150 I think that is pretty good. This unit arrived quick and free (2 day courtesy Amazon Prime) and functions as advertised. Yes it's a little noisy...not as loud as a hair dryer, but louder than a refrigerator, and only during the freeze cycle, which is minutes every hour. Yes there will be a plastic or chemical taste at first, and you can resolve it by flushing the unit with vinegar and water (I also heard lime juice works). After I did this, cycled the water through 3 times by turning it off just as soon as the ice tray stopped filling, all taste issues stopped. This was the first day of use. Tastes great, makes ice quickly, cheap, looks good, what's not to like?
