Very nice, very quiet, excellent quality
By Scott Willis
Just installed. Very nice look, fan is very quiet on low (a big selling point for me), right thickness of metal, flawless finish and the finish seems durable (no scratches during installation), seems to be excellent quality throughout.Caution: when taking out the "Teflon coated bottom cover" the inside edge of the round opening is both a natural place to grab it AND razor sharp. Might want to pry up at the outer edge with something like a putty knife.I installed it ducted, which exhausts smoke etc. to the outdoors. "Non-ducted" just sucks smoke into the hood then blows it back at you.It does NOT include (buy separately):1. pair of 50W PAR20 halogen bulbs.2. electrical cable clamp (standard 1/2" clamp using a 3/4" hole I think) for power entry3. a pair of wire nuts.4. either a 7" round or 3" x 10" rectangular exhaust duct kit. Does not include a round damper, does include a rectangular damper. I picked up an install kit locally that included a rooftop exhaust hood with damper plus 7" pipe sections and elbows (and a rectangular-to-round adapter that I didn't use). The damper closes when the fan is off, so for example in winter you're not losing warm air up the duct all the time.5. sheet-metal screws for locking duct sections together.6. "metal repair tape" (aluminum tape) for sealing duct sections. Ironically, cloth "duct tape" isn't good for sealing ducts (doesn't last).7. if putting in a new rooftop exhaust duct: flashing materials, spare shingles, tar paper, roofing nails, sealant etc.
