Poor quality components
By Harpo60005
I bought the white (non-stainless steel) version of this oven, and have found it to be horribly unreliable. See the reviews for the other variations of this basic model from Maytag, and they talk about how the heat vents burn your hand when trying to use the controls or if you're not very careful when grabbing the door handle. On my version which is white, the heat discolored the brushed aluminum vent to the point it was dark brown, and the originally white upper facia panel has long since been cooked into a dingy yellow-brown off-white color. But my main gripe is that I have had to replace the internal components to the point where I paid more for replacement parts than I originally paid for the oven itself (new) and I shop online and discount parts houses. The control panel has gone out 2-3 times now, at $200 just for the part if you install it yourself. Less expensive but equally unreliable has been the ignitor, and the temperature sensor. My folder for this product is stuffed with receipts for parts and service calls. Since I assume the same engineers are behind their other oven products, and the same parts are in them, I would never buy another Maytag oven again. I feel bad for anyone else who bought or buys this oven.
