Fire Hazard

Before buying this oven do a thorough search on all reviews about it. Be aware that the broiler will come on DURING cooking if the oven door is open for more than 30 seconds. This means that if you open the door to baste your holiday bird, it will go up in smoke once you close the oven door. Ours did just that--caught fire. This is a serious design flaw, and further constitutes a fire hazard in our home.Judging from the amount of complaints on various sites (Consumer Affairs, Buzzillions, E-pinions) regarding this issue, and others (such as glass doors exploding during self-cleaning, lack of company responsiveness), which, unfortunately, we discovered after buying the oven, potential buyers would do well to steer clear of this appliance. We would have done exactly that if we had done our research, instead of allowing ourselves to be influenced by what the KitchenAid Brand used to stand for (our old KitchenAid appliances had long, happy, uneventful lives), and wooed by the superficial beauty of the appliances.Caveat Emptor.
