STAY AWAY!!

This is the worst oven I have ever seen, I do not know what the engineers where thinking when they built this unit. There is a small metal deflector that runs along the top of the vents above the top door and after 10-12 minutes of the oven coming to temp, the whole area above the door gets so hot, you can burn yourself. Funny thing is, the engineers obviously knew this, because after I got a blister on my finger from touching this metal band, I looked at the manual and under the section "Vents" it actually says that it could burn you!! Worst of all, Maytag was very uncooperative about exchanging the unit. I had always thought Maytag was a good company but I will never purchase another thing from them. They acted as if there was nothing wrong. A service person came to my home from PC Richards where I purchased the oven and he measured the temperature of this metal deflector once the oven reached 360 degrees on the inside. The metal strip on the outside had already reached a temperature of 220 degrees after only 12 minutes. PC Richards was great. They gladly offered an exchange and I purchased a GE instead.My recommendation is to stay away, far away, it will burn you and then Maytag will add insult to injury and burn you again.

So excited to finally get a replacement for my vintage built-in 24' gas wall oven. First time we put it on we learned it did not have the simplest of electronic functions---for your cook time to begin counting down after the oven reaches the set cooking temperature (my cheap Target toaster oven knows how to do that). That means that after the oven reaches cooking temperature, you have to then go to the controls and set your cook time, but at that point, scalding hot air is pouring out of the this huge eye level "oven vent" in the middle of the unit, making the controls too hot to manipulate because the vent is aiming excess heat at your hand.Maytag says there is nothing they can do.As a different reviewer said, the unit is so cheap, it doesn't even come with any sort of even a simple oven lightbulb cage, just a bare bulb in the back, so if you push a pan back there, you may easily break your lightbulb (glass shards in your food and falling down through oven floor holes not a pleasant thought).
