FFEC3603LW May Have Enamel Issues--Buyers Beware!

Virtually identical to models made by Tappan over 30 years ago, its a very basic electric stovetop. I purchased this to replace my old O'Keefe & Merritt (made by Tappan), but was dismayed to find the quality has gone down since the manufacturing was outsourced to China. When I lifted the top & checked underneath the surface elements, approximately 25% of the metal was not enameled, particularly around the burner holes, which is critical. Where the enamel should have been, the bare metal was blackened from the enameling process. This untreated metal would have become rusty & corroded from use from the combination of heat and moisture from any boil overs or condensation, shortening considerably the life of the unit. Stovetops should be enameled inside & out with a baked on vitreous enamel to ensure the life & strength of the steel used. This was quickly confirmed with a call to Frigidaire, and on their word I was able to return the unit for a full refund, as the seller had checked their inventory and EVERY SINGLE UNIT THEY HAD WITH THIS MODEL NUMBER HAD THE SAME DEFECT. What a sad lack of quality control! As Frigidaire is the only manufacturer currently with a model in this dimension, if you're looking for a replacement stovetop, be sure to have the inside checked for the defect I described. Meanwhile, I've resorted to rebuilding my O'Keefe & Merritt. At least now I know I can order replacement parts for the Frigidaire model FFEC3603LW and know they'll fit my stove top!
